Owner's Representation
Acting in an advisory capacity, TBEG provides Ownership with advice and guidance to help mitigate risk and ensure value on construction projects. Typical areas of focus are; determining the correct procurement method, contract analysis and review, QA/QC methodology, bid process review, and financial approval and forecasting.
Construction Project
Management
TBEG performs day-to-day construction management services using modern project management tools to deliver a quality product on time and on budget. With these tools TBEG manages the construction of projects for those clients who do not have the in-house skill set to do so. TBEG CM services do NOT provide At Risk cover for clients (CMAR). Please note TBEG is a licensed GC and can provide these services in Minnesota. We are experienced in both modernization and new construction projects

Elevator/ Escalator Consulting
Also referred to as Vertical Transportation (VT), elevator/ escalator consultancy is a niche skillset within building design but incredibly important to get right, since poorly performing existing equipment or badly designed new systems can inflict significant pain to building operations, and is costly to fix, if it is fixable at all.
​TBEG offers traffic analysis, equipment/ capital audits, and a full suite of design and construction management services for modernization and new construction. We are particularly experienced in Healthcare and Hi-Rise applications.
ABOUT
Formed in 2013 by President and Principal, Nick White, The Built Environment Group offers over 30 years of international design, technical consultancy and construction management experience. Nick is originally from the UK and was educated in Building Engineering and Construction Management in Edinburgh, UK. Over the last thirty years he has been involved in many areas of project design and construction, both in Europe and the United States.
Initially trained and experienced as a construction project manager, Nick completed many commercial projects in Europe and was then invited to manage a project in California. He then relocated to Minnesota in 2013 where has since enjoyed roles as an Owners Rep, Design Consultant, Major-Projects Construction Executive and Operations Director. He has been involved with many flagship projects in the healthcare, commercial, sports and public sectors which has equipped Nick with a broad range of applicable skills including a:

deep knowledge of the risks associated with construction while working in a tight regulatory framework, including OSHPD. decades of experience navigating code requirements and developing productive relationships with AHJ's.

sound understanding of contract law and negotiation principles, including producing technically detailed agreements, watertight administration, and enforcing terms and conditions

expert knowledge of vertical transportation design, performance and products

broad technical knowledge of building systems including HVAC, electrical, standby power, and low voltage systems such as data, security and life systems

significant experience in the QA/QC, servicing, and the auditing of building systems

Essentia Health Vision Northland, (Duluth)-Modernization and new addition of 928,000 GSF housing 280 beds for surgical suites, birthing unit, ICU and in-patient rooms with a new ER.
Sanford Medical Center (Fargo)- $500M New construction hospital. 11 level new hospital construction with 18 elevators

University of Minnesota- Clinical Research, (Minneapolis)- New construction of a 310,000 GSF facility housing lab medicine and pathology, clinical labs, exam, teaching and office spaces and underground parking with integration to campus.
University of Minnesota- HSEC (Minneapolis)- New construction of a 202,000 GSF facility housing. Features classrooms and event spaces.
North Central University- Medical Teaching Facility (Minneapolis)- New Construction of 66,000 GSF medical teaching facility.
Froedtert Hospital Parking Ramp (Milwaukee)- 8 floor parking structure serving hospital visitors/staff
Elkhart Hospital (Indiana)- 9 elevator new construction
Genesis Medical Center (Quad Cities)- 7 elevator new construction
Abbott Hospital and Mercy Hospital (Minneapolis)- 42 elevator, multi-campus modernization program in old existing buildings, while in a live environment

RBC Gateway (Minneapolis)- $1B, 37-story, 1.2M GSF mixed-use tower housing a hotel, office, retail and private residences.
US Bank Stadium (Minneapolis)- $1B stadium hosting the NFL MN Vikings and other large-scale events.
Two22 Building (Minneapolis)- 19 elevator modernization featuring the latest elevator technology which required integration into existing building infrastructure.

​MN Capitol Buildings (St Paul)- Audit of 92 elevators in 21 buildings which included code review, performance monitoring and commentary on future life of equipment, including providing financial and scheduling forecasts for remedial work.
MN State Office Building (St Paul)- Technical consultancy for new construction and modernization of 13 elevators.
MN Judicial Building (St Paul)- Project management and technical consultancy for modernization of 9 elevators
